Chef David Viana announced that the much heralded “Kitchen at Grove Station” in Jersey City is closed. The announcement was made on Facebook on December 26. The Kitchen had previously announced that they would be closed 24 Dec to 30 Dec for emergency repairs. With Viana’s announcement it appears that the owners of the space will reopen as a reimagined experience with a new cast.
The Kitchen embodied the New American esthetic: rustic farmhouse tables and soft velvet booths filled a space where the hard lines of modern windows and shelves serves as the bones of the space. It was that perfect combination of the known and comfortable presented within the cutting edge. That perfect combination of the unique and classic carried over to the menu as well.
On January 12th, look for Viana to appear at the much loved Terre a Terre in Carlstadt. Reservations are still available for the “Art Of Local Cuisine Collaboration Dinner.” Chef Viana is one of those rare chefs whose passion for the plate is greater than his quest for fame, and that’s why culinary enthusiasts know that as the door in Jersey City closed, several more will open in the New Year for Viana. We can’t wait to see what 2016 brings!
