For the fourth year running, local chefs will be coming together to benefit The Salvation Army hot lunch program at the Citadel in Montclair.
A seasonal lunch will be served with a menu devised by some of the areas finest restaurants and chefs—the Orange Squirrel and Osteria Giotto. Ingredients have once again been donated generously by Kings Food Markets as part of their Act Against Hunger initiative.
Admission will be by ticket only and are available in advance online (http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/2426267) or from The Salvation Army, 13 Trinity Place, Montclair NJ 07042 – contact Michele Kroeze telephone (973) 744-3312 ext. 4651 or email email@example.com The suggested minimum is $25.
The event is the brainchild of two Montclair Salvation Army volunteers: Caroline Clarke and Lisa Davies (co founder of the Montclair Culinary Academy & Executive Director of the Montclair Food & Wine Festival) who decided it would be a good way to raise funds to replenish the food supplies that feed Montclair’s hungry every week.
Said Lisa: “Montclair is an affluent town, but it is also a town of contrasts and a lot of people are surprised that we have hungry people here. The Salvation Army fills a very real need of providing people with meals. We hope this fundraiser will raise awareness and funds so we can stock up on fresh produce.”
Chefs Robert Pantusa (Osteria Giotto and Francesco Palmieri (Orange Squirrel) were both “very pleased” to be involved again and contribute their gorgeous seasonal fare.
