Celebrated Chef/ Restaurateur Chris Siversen’s longtime dream of opening a hip, casual burger place comes alive next month with the launch of BURG: Burgers & Taps in the heart of Newark’s recently revitalized Military Park.
BURG — the latest collaboration from the team behind Maritime Parc in Jersey City — will feature hand-crafted burgers, salads and mini-doughnuts with value-priced wine, craft beer on tap and a spirited signature cocktail list.
Says Siversen,”We’ve been working for months with DeBragga to develop the perfect signature blend. And we’ll also have chicken, lamb and seafood burgers for more adventurous types!”
Siversen’s commitment to sourcing locally goes for beer as well as food from notable NJ purveyors Radicle Farms, Zone 7, Valley Shepherd and DeBragga.
“We enjoy working with top flight restaurants and Maritime Parc has long been recognized as one of New Jersey’s most respected dining destinations,” adds Marc Sarrazin, DeBragga CEO. ” We are honored that someone known for demanding the best ingredients and getting raves for his food, chose us as his partner for BURG.” Fine meats specialists to generations of legendary chefs, DeBragga, New York’s Butcher®, dry ages and custom cuts the finest naturally raised meats for chefs including Daniel Boulud’s restaurants, Jean-Georges Restaurants, Craft, Colicchio & Sons Tap Room, Roberta’s, M. Wells and more.
With his partner, Marc Haskell, Siversen has also teamed up with Biederman Redevelopment Ventures and The Military Park Partnership, which is responsible for the 2014 redevelopment and operation of the six-acre park.
“The opening of BURG is the next step in our ongoing revitalization of Military Park and makes the park even more of a destination for everyone who lives, works, or visits downtown Newark,” said Ben Donsky, Military Park Partnership Vice President and Biederman Redevelopment Ventures Senior Project Manager. “Every great urban park has its signature dining spot, and BURG will be ours.”
BURG’s modern comfort-style interior is designed by Manhattan-based Stephanie Goto, creator of Maritime Parc’s award-winning look, and will feature elements of an old-fashioned diner. Burger lovers may walk up to the counter and place their orders to go, or sit and eat at one of 40 seats inside or 60 overlooking the gardens outside. BURG will be open 7 days for lunch & dinner.
