With temperatures warming up this week, De Novo European Pub is already thinking “Spring Fling” with plans in the works to introduce a patio bar — a lively dining space and bar just outside the restaurant at the Upper Montclair Train Station.
By expanding outdoors, Culinary Director/Owner Demetri Malki adds room for 30 additional guests at the immensely popular restaurant he opened at the renovated train station last summer. The covered patio will feature a custom-designed walnut bar, where a variety of sweet and slushy drinks will be available (in addition to De Novo’s signature cocktails and handpicked wine and beer lists).
“Guests will be transported to a warmer climate once they sip our frozen margaritas and daiquiris!” says Malki. “We look forward to giving people an al fresco dining option while watching the trains come and go.”
The patio and outdoor dining area are expected to open mid-April, weather permitting.
Warmer Weather, Lighter Fare
While Malki plans to continue serving most of the popular dishes on the current menu, spring will usher in several lighter selections, such as Homemade Tagliolini with Tomato Fondue + Sweetened Garlic, Pan-Seared Salmon Topped with Jumbo Lump Crab Cake with a Moroccan Glaze, and Octopus Carpaccio. The kitchen will continue to turn out an irresistible selection of desserts and homemade gelato in tempting flavors such as fresh spearmint and the best-selling Cast Iron Skillet Chocolate Brownie Topped with Salted Caramel Gelato.
