Toni’s Kitchen, a soup kitchen and food ministry of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Montclair, will celebrate its relationships with local partners in the fight against hunger at its annual cocktail party fundraiser on Monday, March 23, 2015, at Halcyon Restaurant, 114 Walnut Street, in Montclair.
This important event will help raise awareness about the issue of hunger and our efforts to combat it in the Montclair area. Music group “Jazz House Kids” will perform. There will also be food and wine, a special whiskey tasting, and a silent auction to raise money for the work of Toni’s Kitchen.
The outstanding partners of Toni’s Kitchen that will be recognized at the event are HOMECorp, Mental Health Association of Essex County, The Montclair Foundation, Montclair Neighborhood Development Corp (MNDC), Partners for Health, Succeed2gether, and the United Way.
“Individually, each of these organizations work to improve the lives of those in need in our community,” said Anne Mernin, Director of Outreach for Toni’s Kitchen. “As we work in close partnership, we are finding measurable improvements in the health of our community – fewer senior citizens slipping into homeless, better connections with healthcare, regular access to nutritious food, and strong emotional support. This is possible not through our individual efforts but through our strength in partnerships. It is something to be celebrated!”
Toni’s Kitchen provides hot meals, health and wellness programs, case management, nutrition education and other critical services to those in need in the Montclair area. With the help of hundreds of local volunteers, Toni’s Kitchen serves more than 12,000 meals a year to guests in its kitchen, and thousands more to people in the local community through partner programs.
